Porefessional face primer from Benefit ($31, available @ benefitcosmetics.com)
This stuff is amazing. If you haven't tried it, finish reading this post, then drop everything and run out to your nearest Sephora or Ulta and get this. This is great for my slightly wrinkled, slightly blemished, oily skin. It has a blurring capability that helps hide those imperfections and gives your other layers great staying power. This reminds me a lot of the Diorskin Pore Minimizer, but the Benefit Porefessional seems to do a much better job of hiding pores and wrinkles. I found that when I used Porefessional, I could get away with using drug store brand foundations and setting powders, which is always a win.
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Spray ($21.95, available @ birchbox.com)
I cannot get enough of this stuff! I hate getting my hair cut and will do anything to lengthen the time between trims. This is a leave-in conditioner that I use on my hair every time I wash it. It smells amazing and makes my hair feel instantly soft and healthy. I received this in one of my Birchboxes and fell in love. I'm not a fan of Birchbox as a subscription service (which they offer and some people love them), but they have managed to get some fantastic exclusive deals, including this product. It's $20 and saves me 1-2 trims a year, so I'm completely hooked. Oh, and did I mention that it smells amazing?
Rainforest After Dark palette from Tarte ($38, available @ tartecosmetics.com)
This palette. Let me start with telling you how high my expectations were for this palette: I watched several YouTube videos about this palette and thought it looked like magic in a disk. It's not magic. It does have some flaws. Overall, I love it, and this really got me on board with Tarte and other palettes. It is a disk the size of my hand (okay, a bit bigger) and has six eye shadows, a blush, a bronzer, a highlight, and a mirror practically the size of my entire face. The eyeshadows are so-so. They're neutrals and mauve-y plums (perfect for fall/winter), but they are extremely hard and require you to really build up the pigmentation. On one hand, that keeps you from going overboard, but on the other hand, come on, guys. The blush, bronzer, and highlight are where it's at, though. The colors are gorgeous and go well with each other, including the shadows. The blush is called "Unleashed" and is total perfection. It is a neutral rose color that looks great on my fair skin. It looks like a rosier version of "Blushing Bride" (also by Tarte), and makes every other blush I own practically useless for me. All of these products are in one, very easy to transport and store palette. You can't go wrong with a look using this palette because all of the colors go together so perfectly. Life-Chaning because it will get you hooked on Tarte products and will be the only thing you'll want to use on your face for the rest of the season (and it's limited edition, so be aware that it's out there JIC you're interested).
Prime Base Coat by Formula X ($10.50, available @ sephora.com)
I hate getting my nails done for the same reasons that I hate getting my hair cut: who has time for that?! I used to dread doing my nails, knowing that in less than 24 hours they'd be chipped, forcing me to touch them up, redo them, or completely remove the polish. This base coat dries sticky and helps keep the other layers of polish on your nail. I can actually do my nails (still use a top coat, of course), and know that they'll be unchanged and unchipped the next day. Even when I'm being very hands-on with dishes, pets, and laundry, using this base coat will allow me to keep my nails chip-free for about 3 days (versus 1-2 when I don't use anything or another brand of base coat).
